Overview

The Bright Futures Skills 4 Work, Skills 4 Life Experience is all about making young people more employable. The impetus is success in the work place and success in life. We bring first-hand recruitment and employability experience into the classroom through a series of carefully selected activities.

This programme has been designed to meet 7 of the 9 elements in the new WRL framework. It addresses simple things, often taken for granted, like how a simple handshake or a person's eye contact can tell you so many things about them.

Students examine the positive and negative aspects of the work place and they feel comfortable exploring, challenging and discussing what the real world of work is all about.

Students also consider their 'hobbies & interests' – important drivers for career planning. They also identify simple yet invaluable non-academic skills that can be developed in school, paving the way for their success as young people joining the work place.

Our exciting material is a combination of kinaesthetic activities, designed to encourage team working and communication, as well as problem solving tasks that require lateral thinking and an innovative approach to creating a solution.

We discuss how reliability, a positive attitude, effective communication skills, personal and professional appearance and the ability to work effectively in a team make such a difference to employers right across the world, giving relevant examples where applicable.

This is not an academic programme. It is a very raw, earthy and real approach to what working life is all about. The Skills 4 Work, Skills 4 Life programme is appropriate for all mainstream students, including those with low academic ability.

Our message throughout the programme is one of inspiration, our delivery style is dynamic and the material that we use in our activities is simply first-class.

Some of the subjects covered in our programme include : What employers are looking for, the importance of qualifications in the work place, applications, CVs and interviews, health & safety and risk assessment, to name but a few.

The timings of the programme will generally mirror your school day, unless otherwise requested, to minimise disruption to the rest of the school.

Your students will find the programme, challenging, enjoyable and totally rewarding.

All we require is some basic stationery, data projection equipment, a suitable room and we're good to go.

To imitate the real world of work, we quickly and effectively split the students into non-friendship working groups.

All modules are interactive and are supported with strong audio-visuals, creating a highly memorable event. The majority of our activities are practical and involve "getting your sleeves rolled up and stuck in!"

Our own team of professional presenters will deliver the programme. We ask for some of your staff to be in with them, just to oversee the event and answer any questions that may arise.
