Overview
Study Skills - The guide to smart learning!
The Bright Futures Study Skills programme aims to guide your students on an exciting voyage of discovery about themselves and how they learn.
Our programme is upbeat and highly motivational. Through practical activities, your students learn the skills they need to succeed, by establishing good studying techniques and habits.
Study Skills is suitable for students from Year 7. It is particularly good as preparation for mocks, GCSEs, AS and A2 exams. As a modular programme, it can be delivered in stages throughout their school career.
Students are introduced to our comprehensive study skills booklet, which includes a range of activities to suit all learning styles. They will keep the booklets for future reference and they can be used, for example, as an excellent mentoring aid. Each student will be encouraged to make some personal commitments during the programme.
The programme itself can be adapted to suit the needs of your students and school but some of the themes and topics covered are:
Learning Styles - My preferred style and how to use it effectively
Attention to detail and ‘focus’
Goal-setting, action planning and getting organised – how these impact on my future
Prioritising and time management (The Time Management Matrix)
Mind Mapping
Memory Techniques
Study groups and how to use them
Personal Commitment Plan
Revision Techniques
Independent Learning
Forming positive habits
We want to arm your students with knowledge and understanding, so they can turn their revision and learning into a much more meaningful and even fun process. Our message is that successful learning at school leads to success in life!
